On Saturday 19th November 2016 Corinthia Hotel London were thrilled to welcome the seventh annual Global Gift Gala, hosted by Eva Longoria Bastòn, and organised by the incomparable Maria Bravo. The Global Gift Gala is a truly inspirational event, with all proceeds from the event going to The Global Gift Foundation and The Eva Longoria Bastòn Foundation.
A non-profit organisation, The Global Gift Foundation aims to create a positive impact on the lives of children, women and families who are in need, whilst the Eva Longoria Baston Foundation focuses on women’s education and entrepreneurship.
In the days leading up to the event we were delighted to have Eva Longoria Baston staying with us, getting a feel for London in winter, whilst using the hotel as a comfortable base. With the hotel car on standby, she even wanted to try out Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland along with other celebrities including Simon Cowell and Brooklyn Beckham.
After the fun of the fairground and Christmas markets, it was back to Corinthia London with the final preparations taking place. Fortunately we had a fantastic team on hand to work its magic and ensure that the most wonderful event would take place, with everyone working tirelessly to achieve the best result possible.
On the day the team from Outrage Events were outside the door at 5am to start the transformation process of The Ballroom. No one could deny that they did an incredible job on all production elements which included building a custom stage, dance floor, sound and lighting, and generally ensuring that all the acts had exactly what they needed throughout the evening.
When it came to décor, Amie Bone was our superstar florist, who provided the most incredible floral creations to enhance and complement the spaces. Amie mixed a variety of pink tones with delicate foliage in elegant gold vases to keep the room light and bright – all of which looked stunning against the table designs. The roses, dahlias and other stunning arrangements were definitely a talking point, however it really was the humungous and breathtaking flower wall in the centre of the stage which was the show stopper! Amie also used an abundance of flickering candles within her tablescapes to add warmth and romance to this winter event. At each place setting a gift bag, stationery from Armorial, and the gorgeous white and grey Chandelle chairs from Great Hire were the perfect accessories to compliment the overall décor designs.
Before the start of the event celebrity hair stylist Ken Paves was working his magic on both Eva Longoria and Victoria Beckham in their suites, before they posed for the photographers in our beautiful Hamilton Penthouse.
All guests were welcomed through The Ballroom’s private entrance and walked the purple carpet for their photo to be taken before enjoying the pre-dinner drinks reception. Cocktails from both Cointreau and Haig Club were floating around the room, along with Champagne provided by Duc de la Rose.
There were numerous areas of interest to admire, including a wonderful Spanish ham display, cut and prepared fresh for the guests to enjoy, as well as a fantastic photo booth area. The backdrop to the photo booth was designed by Miss Magpie Fashion Spy for all guests to enjoy – and even better, the ladies were doing live illustrations on the night for the guests to take home their own stylish fashion sketch.
It was then time for this sold-out event to throw open the doors and welcome everyone into Corinthia London’s Ballroom. The room was impressive, the food was delicious and the entertainment spectacular, however the key thing that was never forgotten was to raise important funds for such excellent causes.
Attendees at the Global Gift Gala included David Beckham, Alesha Dixon, Gordon Ramsay, Nicole Scherzinger and Anastacia.
The evening was compered by comedian Jack Whitehall, who did a wonderful job keeping the proceedings moving as well as adding his hilarious wit to the occassion. We were delighted to welcome Rebecca Ferguson, Jorge Blass and The Honeyz to perform during the dinner, then the fantastic Craig David to get the after-dinner party going with a fabulous DJ set. He certainly didn’t disappoint in getting the party started and everyone onto the dance floor.
It is fair to say that an incredible time was had by all, with social media documenting this excellent event from the entertainment to the flowers, to the hosts to the food. Here at Corinthia London, not only have we welcomed and supported the Global Gift Gala on the night of the event, but we are also keeping this philanthropic area in mind for the rest of the festive period.
Aligning with Corinthia London’s theme of the magical ballet of Swan Lake, the hotel’s tree became the Global Gift Foundation Christmas tree and launched the festive season at the hotel. The beautiful baubles are filled with white feathers and were signed by celebrity guests at the Gala, with their festive wishes for 2016.
Eva placed the first bauble on the tree, located in the Lobby, together with Corinthia London’s General Manager, Thomas M. Fischer. Which was followed by a live online auction, with the target of raising £30,000 for the Global Gift Foundation.
From 19th November 2016 guests can bid on an array of ten exceptional experiences which include a one-night stay in the hotel’s Royal Penthouse worth £23,000, a couple’s spa experience at ESPA Life at Corinthia or a Champagne Afternoon Tea for Four. The auction runs until 23rd December 2016 when the lucky winners will be announced. To see more and to get involved in the auction, please visit www.corinthia.com/gala-auction
