UCL MD-11 FANTASY PREVIEW (TUESDAY DEADLINE!)

Real Madrid’s keeper and the congested schedule helped the 14-time UCL winner to defeat last season’s champion Man City in a penalty shootout after a thrilling 4-4 aggregate draw. The Spanish giants will now face off against 6-time UCL winner Bayern who knocked out the other English club, Arsenal, 3-2 on aggregate.

The other bracket features 1-time (1997) UCL champion Dortmund who were able to reverse deficits multiple times over the course of two legs to knock out Atletico Madrid 5-4. The second German club in the semifinals plays PSG. The French club is yet to win a UCL title and is desperate to do so before the eminent departure of Kilyan Mbappe this summer.

MD-11 FANTASY GUIDE

Reaching the semifinals in UCL means that you are going to play all your cards to reach the final. If any rest is expected or demanded by players, then it will be in domestic matches.

Confirmed lineups before Tuesday’s fantasy transfer deadline will be Bayern and Real Madrid. Dortmund and PSG will be confirmed on Wednesday before our substitution deadline.

Fantasy teams can now have up to six players from each club, and you have five free transfers ahead of MD-11 to patch holes and get your team back on track.

FIXTURES

Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid

All eyes will be on Germany this midweek as both matches will be played on German soil. Host Bayern defeated Union Berlin 5-1 and Frankfurt 2-1 since knocking out Arsenal. As a result, Bayern secured qualification to next season’s UCL regardless of further results in Bundesliga’s remaining three game-weeks.

Out of the domestic cup, and with the Bundesliga title claimed by Bayer Leverkusen last weekend, Bayern has no domestic distractions remaining. That should free the club to risk more than their opponents to achieve a trophy this season after the end of an 11-year domestic league winning streak.

Real Madrid is not an easy target. This club is naturally respected even as visitors. The Spaniards added six more points to their La Liga total, defeating Barcelona 3-2 and Real Sociedad 1-0, since knocking out Man City. This means that Real Madrid must win 1 and draw 1 of the remaining five matches to win La Liga regardless of the other results. Ancelotti rotated the team heavily against Real Sociedad after two grueling matches against Man City and Barcelona, so we expect the key players to be in top shape in Munich.

Dortmund vs PSG

Both qualifiers from the group of death reached the semifinals to go at it again. In the group stage, PSG had the upper hand, defeating Dortmund 2-0 at home but held to a 1-1 in Dortmund. In the quarterfinals, PSG enjoyed the 4-1 away victory over Barcelona to come back on aggregate and win 5-4. The Parisians repeated the 4-1 score-line twice domestically afterwards to defeat Lyon and Lorient. After drawing 3-3 at home against relegation threatened Le Havre, PSG needs just one more point from the remaining three Ligue-1 matches to win the title, but it could be handed to them if Monaco fails to win today at Lyon (kicking off as this is being written).

Host Dortmund dropped two points a week ago when Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen just refused to end an record undefeated streak in all competitions, scoring a 1-1 leveler in the last minute of stoppage.

Dortmund then suffered a 4-1 loss (another 4-1 — is this a sign or something?) Saturday at the hands of direct UCL-qualifying competitor RB Leipzig to slip five points behind 4th place with three games to go. This fact probably makes Dortmund the most desperate club in the top four this season — The only way to qualify for UCL this season might be gamble on winning it all this season!
