TRANSFER UPDATE: ERIK TEN HAG WANTS BAYERN MUNICH’S MATTHIJS DE LIGT AT MANCHESTER UNITED

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany is reportedly not planning on featuring center-back Matthijs De Ligt in the upcoming season. De Ligt is one of several said to be up for sale during this summer’s transfer window, and an exit just two seasons after his high-profile move to Munich would be a big shock to many Bayern fans.

While the Dutch international established himself in Thomas Tuchel’s preferred center-back pairing alongside Eric Dier by the end of last season, it has now become clear that the new coach, Kompany, sees things differently. Jonathan Tah’s potential arrival from Bayer Leverkusen is another factor pointing more towards a De Ligt exit.

Manchester United are the club that have shown the most interest in trying to sign De Ligt, and De Ligt’s former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag is now on the verge of signing a new contract to remain at Old Trafford.

Per new information from Sport Bild journalist and Bayern insider Christian Falk (via @iMiaSanMia), the Bavarians want as much as €70m but the clubs are far apart in their valuations:

The Red Devils are also said to be interested in Everton’s Jarrad Paul Branthwaite to replace Raphaël Varane. Much could depend on what happens with Bayern’s pursuit of Tah as well.
