LENNON MILLER'S SO FOCUSED IT'S SCARY, SAYS MOTHERWELL DEFENDER

Shane Blaney says it’s ‘scary’ how focused Lennon Miller is at Motherwell.

Miller, 17, is enjoying a fine season at Motherwell, is a mainstay in their first team, and has been nominated for the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award on Sunday.

Irish defender Blaney says he was nothing like Miller at that age, and is full of admiration for the midfielder.

Blaney, 25, said: “I’ve been really impressed with Lennon, he’s a really good footballer, and I’ve probably been impressed with him more as a person.

“He’s a really good fella for the age of him, and the way he holds himself, carries himself, it’s mad, really, to think he is the age that he is.

“I remember the way I was at that age, and I was nowhere near where he is on the pitch, or the way he carries himself and stuff like that, which is a testament to himself and his family, the people around him.

“He takes it in his stride and it’s scary, to be honest, nothing seems to faze him.

“You grow to learn that with the best players, they’re always like that, nothing fazes them, and he’s certainly like that.”

Miller, the son of former Aberdeen and Scotland star Lee, is in the youth players’ dressing room during the week but the first-team changing area on a Saturday, and Blaney says he also takes that in his stride.

“He’s finding his voice in the dressing room and he’s a big part of our team,” he said.

“I think you see that on the pitch, and there’s no better way of explaining that than when he was out of the team - I think we definitely missed him.

“It has been great having him back after his injury, and I think that’s another to say about him, that was a big injury he had, at such a young age, and to come back the way he has done is brilliant.”
