The story of Samantha and Nik is of a Northern bride and Greek groom ready to tie the knot in the big city. Lovers of the hotel and regular diners in The Northall and Massimo Restaurant the natural choice of venue for their big day had to be Corinthia Hotel London.
When asked to describe this particular couple and their love story as seen from an outside perspective, my mind jumps back to a conversation that I had with the groom, Nik the first time we met:
Nik was standing outside Bassoon bar waiting for Samantha, his bride-to-be. I asked the simple question of how long they had been together, to which he opened up and was positively gushing about his then-fiancée. “Beautiful, gorgeous, amazing” were just some of the words used to describe Samantha. Nik admitted that prior to meeting, he had been somewhat notoriously non-committal but after falling for her almost instantly, he realised that she was the best thing to have ever happened to him. He claims that within just a month he was certain that she was the love of his life, and he had to marry her…which is a grand statement after just thirty days!
Nik said that once Samantha was in his life, he didn’t want her to leave, and loved spending the weekends with her, as opposed to with the ‘boys’ and doing his own thing. “I just knew I was in love with her”… well, I suppose the cliché “when you know, you know” applies here!
From humble beginnings, both halves of this couple have worked hard and achieved huge success. Now a joint force in real estate there is no stopping this power couple, and the only thing left for them to do before finalising their business venture was to become husband and wife. Fast forward past the emails, phone calls, and all the planning, it was finally time for Samantha and Nik to get hitched!
First thing in the morning I went to check on Samantha, the preparation was in full swing, breakfast had been consumed and make-up ready to go. Due to large numbers of the bride’s party needing hair and make-up they used one of our boardrooms on the Mezzanine Floor. Popping in and out to check on them couldn’t have been more of a pleasure, especially as they were such a happy bunch, having a sing-a-long to their music and generally enjoying all aspects of the experience. The international make-up artist, Ana Ospina was running her usual tight ship in terms of schedules to make sure that everyone would have their make-up done in time, stress-free, and coinciding with Su, the hairdresser’s timings.
The ceremony set-up involved a white aisle runner in The Courtroom, a cake in The Ballroom bedecked with beautiful flowers and elegant candle displays from By Appointment Only Design. The choice of gold camelot / chiavari chairs with white seat pads perfectly complemented the gold details of the fabulous floral displays. The style and theme of the wedding décor provided the WOW factor, whilst remaining elegant and classic to allow the beauty of the room to shine through.
Along with the bridal bouquet, the low arrangements dotted along the top table were the perfect mix of simplicity and elegance. Samantha was set on having a large number of candles and impressive floral displays, so Javier and Tony, florists from By Appointment Only Design, created beautiful arrangements interspersed with flowers, made up of orchids, roses and greenery, to create the perfect balance.
In her beautiful slim-fitting dress with low back detail, Samantha looked absolutely stunning. Her natural and dewy make-up paired with a soft half up-do couldn’t have suited her more, and the biggest and best part of her look was the huge smile on her face! Thoroughly loving the whole experience, this bride was ready to get married!
Waiting patiently at the end of The Courtroom, Nik was preparing to see his bride. Once all was in place, Samantha’s father, Tony walked her down the petal-scattered aisle to hand her over to her husband-to-be, where in front of all of their loved ones, two families became one.
Ceremony over, it was time for the Champagne to flow, group photographs to be taken, and a good time to be had by all. During the drinks reception various groups were photographed and then a short moment away from the crowds, Nik and Samantha had their own photographs taken as husband and wife.
Knowing their love for design, real estate, and luxury, where could be better to take them than the terrace of our Royal Penthouse! With gorgeous sunny weather and breathtaking views, it was the icing on the cake and perfect way to ensure their London wedding was captured forever on film.
Back with their guests, Sam and Nik enjoyed their Wedding Breakfast which was another important component for this couple. The bride needing a gluten-free menu had all of her dietary requirements catered for so as not to miss out on the delicious food options. The food was served, the wine flowed, and then it was time for the speeches. Following on from a couple of traditional speeches, a screen and projector were produced to elevate the best man’s and the bride’s best friend speeches. The content was a mixture of touching and amusing and the bride and groom seemed to appreciate the effort put in by all to create a novel set of speeches.
Following on from the cutting of the Pretty Gorgeous cake, the party was well underway. Sam and Nik had selected the option of alternating between a band and disco, which meant that all tastes were catered for and the DJ was able to mix both contemporary pop music with traditional Greek tracks, which got everyone up on the dance floor for the rest of the evening!
With the Champagne flowing and the music playing, both bride and groom were seen to be having a fantastic time with their loved ones which was a delight to behold. I am sure that this Anglo-Greek family have a lifetime of happiness to come.
