From the first time that Samantha and Joe came to view the wedding spaces that Corinthia Hotel London had to offer it was clear that they were a true ‘Corinthia Couple’. After having stayed at the hotel for their third anniversary some years before they knew of our wonderful facilities, but it was only after having spotted on social media that we had such beautiful event spaces, following their friends’ wedding here, that they considered us for their own special day.
Several months of planning down the line and it was finally time to welcome our lovely bride, Samantha at Reception ready to check into her room the night before her wedding. The Actor’s Penthouse was the perfect place for her to move into for the wedding weekend: on two levels, it was like having a whole house which was ideal for the number of people she would have joining her.
On the day of the wedding a nervous Samantha was fortunately surrounded by wonderful bridesmaids and family to keep her calm. She also had the added luxury of two of the Corinthia London Butlers team on hand for anything that she may need – including the steaming of the dresses which was expertly carried out and ensured that all garments were looking flawless for the walk down the aisle.
While Samantha was having her hair and make-up done, Joe had arrived at the hotel and was changing into his exquisite Tom Ford tuxedo before joining family and friends across the road for ‘pre-match pints’ at the pub. And speaking of family, it was time for Samantha’s mum to bring the bride and groom’s children to the penthouse to get changed and to be a part of the party.
Little Joey was having a wonderful time exploring all the hiding places that the penthouse had to offer, wearing his mini-tux to match his dad, paired with uber-cool Converse trainers. Sienna was transformed into a fairytale princess in an adorable dress and super-stylish Vivienne Westwood shoes, whilst baby Henry was good as gold and being taken care of by his Nanny.
With the bridal party almost ready, the Corinthia London Team were putting finishing touches to the ceremony room, which was set out with white chiavari chairs and pretty floral arrangements. Joe had welcomed the guests and they joined him in The Courtroom ready for the ceremony to start and await the beautiful bride. Leading the way down the aisle, Sienna and Joey had their dad in sight and made their way to him before Samantha’s brother accompanied her to where she would marry her groom. A beautiful ceremony lead by the registrars allowed Samantha and Joe to cement their already solid bond and officially become husband and wife in front of their adorable three children.
Marriage certificate signed, it was time to serve Champagne and canapés to the wedding guests while we fitted in some photography as well. As it was a lovely day we took the opportunity to use The Ballroom entrance steps for formal photos and a group shot. Fabulous photographer Chris Parkes kept the guests engaged and even convinced a London ‘cabbie’ to let him stand on the bonnet of his black cab to ensure the perfect shot was captured!
From The Ballroom steps we then took the couple up to our Royal Penthouse terrace for some stunning photos. Both the bride and groom, finding the view somewhat breathtaking, enjoyed some alone time, which is always such a crucial part of a wedding day. We cannot speak about this couple’s wedding day without mentioning how beautiful our lovely bride looked. Samantha was oozing glamour in her champagne Justin Alexander dress complimented with Yves Saint Laurent sandals and a stylish up-do, whilst Joe to be unable to take his eyes off her.
With the guests almost ready to be invited through to dinner, The Ballroom was looking fantastic with fabulous floral arrangements along the Top Table and on the round tables for the guests. In front of the stage, which was prepared ready for the band, we had light up letters with the bride and groom’s initials which provided a beautiful glow in The Ballroom. From the initial planning stages the brief had always been simplicity and elegance, which was most definitely the outcome.
Seated at their tables the wedding guests were only too happy to clap and cheer the newlyweds as they were announced into The Ballroom and made their way to the Top Table, when the wedding breakfast could be served. The menu of choice was chicken liver parfait, followed by lamb and finished with chocolate brownie cheesecake, a delicious selection of dishes enjoyed by all the guests.
At the end of the dinner the speeches took place and it was a colourful collection of people who delivered their good wishes, including a collection of groomsmen. Joe, somewhat of a history buff, made sure to include some of the hotel’s history in his speech, including the presence of royalty when King Edward VII would entertain in the same very Ballroom as well as it being the first home of MI9 during World War II. The speech also included words of pure devotion for his new wife, as well as thanking all their guests and giving a collection of gifts to those who had played particular roles in their wedding journey.
Following the speeches the couple and guests made their way to the dance floor to cut the cake before their first dance. The band were then ready to play and did an excellent job of keeping this lively crowd dancing. An excellent time was had by all until the early hours… the unforgettable London wedding of which this couple had dreamed.
Samantha and Joe, your wedding was such a special occasion and we can’t wait to see you back here at Corinthia London every time you come down from Leeds. We all wish you every happiness for married life to you and your wonderful family.
