A whirlwind wedding for a perfectly wonderful whirlwind romance!
Nathalie and Jesús tied the knot on 26th March 2016 at Corinthia Hotel London, and it was truly a pleasure to witness. The wedding was an intimate affair as the couple wanted to marry with just their close family and friends in attendance before they relocated to America to start their new life together. Both bride and groom love London and know it very well, particularly Jesús who lived here for a while. It therefore seemed the perfect place to play host to their wedding. Not only that, but with the bride heralding from Lebanon and the groom from Spain, and London being easy to get to, it provided the perfect geographical meeting point for all guests.
Even though Nathalie and Jesús had never actually seen the venue they had complete faith in the hotel and all that we had to offer, and carried on finalising and planning their big day regardless. It is crucial with couples planning from afar that we make it as easy as possible for them and this is what we tried to do.
Here at Corinthia London we have the great fortune of hosting an in-house florist and a hairdressing salon amongst other fabulous facilities. With this in mind our in-house florist, By Appointment Only Design, provided the stunning floral arrangements, which included pedestal designs for the ceremony, the bridal bouquet, buttonholes and table centrepieces. The main focus was stylish simplicity and we used a variety of white florals, predominantly roses, mixed with a range of foliage and romantic trailing ivy to complete the look.
On the day of the wedding, both Nathalie and Jesús got ready at the hotel separately. The fantastic team at Daniel Galvin at Corinthia provided both hair and makeup services for the bride, ensuring that she was looking and feeling her best. As requested prior to arrival, we also provided Nathalie with a steamer so that she could personally take care of her beautiful Pronovias dress and, when she emerged she looked absolutely gorgeous.
The ceremony was incredibly special as it was conducted by Jesús’ childhood friend, who ensured that it was familial and personal. The couple said their vows in front of family and friends, and with huge smiles on their faces walked down the aisle and led the way to their drinks reception in the pre-function area where the Corinthia London staff waited with trays loaded with drinks.
Whilst the party mingled and enjoyed the drinks reception, the Corinthia staff were working hard to transform The Courtroom from a ceremony venue to the perfect place for a wedding lunch. The rows of chairs were replaced with round tables, clothed and set with Corinthia stationery including individual place cards and menus. A cake table with a unique patisserie design for the bride and groom was positioned as a focal point alongside the family table. Only a few days prior to the wedding the couple had decided that the traditional element of a wedding cake was needed, yet did not want anything too lavish, so our Pastry Team made a vanilla cake with strawberries, cream and white chocolate and surrounded it with cupcakes and chocolate-dipped strawberries.
Whilst the guests were thoroughly enjoying the drinks reception we seized the opportunity to take the bride and groom to the Royal Penthouse for some beautiful city skyline photos, making sure they were able to truly embrace their London-inspired wedding.
Prior to inviting all their guests to enjoy the wedding breakfast, Nathalie and Jesús came to see their beautiful space, to which they added some additional favours to the tables including special biscuits for the ladies.
Introduced by their friend in both English and Spanish, the couple then made their way through to the tables seated with their nearest and dearest to start their meal. As with everything at this wedding all elements were tweaked to suit the joining of two families with very different cultures. The main course was beef, as it was preferred by their guests, however we made sure that it was cooked in different ways to suit the tastes of both sides of the family.
By now it was early evening – the cake had been cut and served, the speeches given, and all guests were invited to board a traditional London Routemaster bus, which the couple had hired to take their guests on a tour of the city, and on to the next part of the event.
Nathalie and Jesús really did have a unique wedding and we hope that it is a day that they will never forget. We wish them all the luck in the world for their new married life.
With love from Corinthia London,
