Why did you choose Corinthia London? What was it that made you fall in love with the venue?
I had been to Corinthia London about two years before for a drink with friends, and after seeing the huge chandelier and having a little walk around the hotel I remember thinking ‘I am going to get married here!’
As soon as we got engaged, I emailed Alexandra and organised to come and see the venue with my fiancé, it was more beautiful than I remembered. I think we looked at three or four other venues but nothing could compare. The style of the hotel is elegant but with a modern feel and that was perfect for us.
Where did the two of you meet?
We first met on a blind date, set up by my boss, Tom. Our first date was at a café near Oxford Street. We met in July 2012, and got engaged in November 2016.
What did you both do on the night before the wedding?
We both spent the evening with our families. We had a drink altogether in the bar which was lovely and then Peter went for dinner with his family and the bridal party stayed at the hotel and had a relaxing evening. It was a very special evening and I am glad we decided to stay in separate rooms the night before as it makes it much more exciting!
Where did you get your dress and shoes from?
My dress is from Wtoo by Watters, and my shoes were Vince Camuto. It was one of the first dresses I tried on and never looked back. It couldn’t have been further than what I thought I wanted, but then everyone says that happens.
My bridesmaids also wore Wtoo, so we all had the same designer.
Where was Peter’s suit from?
Peter and the groomsmen all had custom tailored suits from Dress2Kill in Southwark. Peter’s suit was slightly different as he added a waistcoat, but the groomsmen all wore the same and added their own slight variations as they saw fit.
All our bridesmaids and groomsmen were in navy blue and we were both really pleased with them.
How did you feel on the day?
On the morning of the wedding I felt quite relaxed, and we had a lovely breakfast before everyone arrived at the suite to get ready. I started to feel excited once Lauren and Amanda the hair and makeup girls arrived and enjoyed chatting with them and watching all the bridesmaids get ready. Once I was ready and my Dad came to collect me, the nerves started kicking in. Walking down the aisle is a bit of a blur, but seeing Peter standing at the front I felt calm again and enjoyed every moment of the rest of the day! Binky our photographer got some lovely shots in the suite where we got ready and its lovely to be able to look back and think of all the emotion running through the room!
Describe the styling of The Ballroom
I wanted a very classic look for The Ballroom and didn’t want to add any additional colour so that nothing would detract from the beauty of The Ballroom. We chose white roses and hydrangeas, with some light-coloured foliage to break up the white flowers to show off each flower. Our florist created exactly what I wanted from our centre pieces to our bouquets. We had round bouquets, also white roses and hydrangeas and I was so thrilled when Helen came up to our suite with them. The flowers were stunning and when I saw the room in all its glory I was so pleased, it really is something to see your vision come to life. The décor was classic and elegant with navy blue and gold for the table plans, menu and name cards. We had white dancefloor, and gold chairs which all blended into the room making sure the flowers stood out against the backdrop.
We had the most incredible cheese tower (cheese from Godminster Cheese Company) but nothing could have prepared me for what the Chefs at the Corinthia created for me. It was absolutely amazing with the selection of crackers, chutneys, fruits and flowers. It really was a show stopper.
What is your most memorable moment of the day?
Apart from saying our vows in front of all our friends and family, the moments that stand out for me include when we were first announced into The Ballroom as ‘The New Mr & Mrs’, walking in with all our family and friends there, and feeling the love in the room was quite overwhelming. And secondly, seeing the Ballroom looking so beautiful with the perfectly set tables, flowers, candles and more was a lovely moment. I had a vison of how I wanted it to look, and Alexandra and her team could not have brought it all together more perfectly.
I also have wonderful memories of the band, trumpet and saxophone players coming onto the dancefloor and everyone just joining and dancing along with them. This was a happy moment and I felt that I couldn’t have wished for anything more.
If you could re-live one moment from the day, what would it be?
For me, it would have to be the moments I spent greeting each table! Just saying hello’s and seeing how happy everyone was. It really was a special evening, having everyone in the same room, and a memory that will stay with me forever. I can’t thank everyone at the Corinthia London enough, the service was impeccable and unlike anything I have experienced before.
For both Peter and myself this was a truly memorable day, which was perfect from beginning to end.
With love from Corinthia London,
