Last week you may have been lucky enough to see a wonderful Corinthia Couple, Jane and James, featured on the acclaimed Love My Dress. An excellent article written by Shona Raffle-Edwards, which brought back wonderful memories of their wedding from a chilly Valentine’s Day in February, and we just had to share it with you!
Jane, the beautiful American bride and James, the dashing English groom, decided that they wanted a real London wedding and we were only too delighted when they chose Corinthia Hotel London as their perfect venue. Both bride and groom loved the fact that The Ballroom and adjoining spaces are already stunning when left untouched, and only requiring minimal décor to transform them into a wonderful wedding spaces.
Styled and coordinated by the lovely and talented Alex Merri from The Bijou Bride, this wedding couldn’t fail to be aesthetically impressive and the design perfectly complimented the spaces. Alex made sure that Jane and James’ vision was executed and brought to life, and to do this she carefully handpicked suppliers that she knew would be the best fit.
Starting the day in the Trafalgar Suite at Corinthia London, Jane and her bridesmaids enjoyed spending time getting ready with hair and makeup, and Champagne, on hand.
The bridesmaids looked amazing, dressed in Alfred Sung in a variety of styles to suit their body shapes and their personalities. Jane however stood out from everyone and looked absolutely breathtaking in her Jesús Peiró gown, which was elegant, simple, flattering and even had pockets in the skirt! Since it was February she also had a delicate shrug – an essential accessory to keep her warm. Peeking out tantalisingly from her skirt was a pair of fabulous gold Jimmy Choo sandals and in terms of accessories Jane kept all her jewellery minimal and classic.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in London, the groom and his ushers prepared… and calmed some nerves with monkeying around.
Departing the hotel and off to the church, Jane and James got married at St Mary’s, Cadogan Street almost two years after their first date and less than a year after they got engaged in Paris.
Jane walked down the aisle on the arm of her father to the Prince of Denmark March, the Trumpet Voluntary, by Jeremiah Clarke and the couple said the traditional Catholic vows.
Throughout the day all moments were captured by professional wedding photographer Anneli Marinovich – as you can see, the photographs are stunning and show off their special day.
Before the couple and the guests arrived at the hotel the Corinthia London event spaces had been transformed by an expert team of wedding professionals. On the tables in both The Ballroom and The Courtroom a delicate dove grey linen was used and it all looked wonderful next to the floral arrangements created by Paula Rooney. Following the bride’s wishes, the flowers were wonderfully rich in colour and a mixture of sizes including tulips, roses, and anemones. We cannot mention Paula’s designs without touching upon the fantastic flowering tree at the entrance into the wedding reception which was a fabulous feature for guests to see when they arrived, as well as being a creative way to display the escort cards. The cards and stationery were designed and made by Sincerely May who incorporated the London skyline delicately into their designs to highlight the city wedding theme.
In The Ballroom, complimenting the grey linens, Alex had also arranged for a mirror-bar and dance floor to be installed at the window-end of The Ballroom – this was a great idea which made a stunning impression and stylish. On the fabulous mirrored dance floor was a cake by SK Cakes, made to match the flower arrangements and covered with floral decorations – a stunning piece of work, elegantly towering atop the cake . There also the wonderfully stylish cake pops by Cake Pop Princess, presented with gold forks ready for the guests to enjoy later in the evening.
Whilst the guests were enjoying refreshing flutes of Champagne and delicious canapés, many noted that the hotel had a lovely aroma. Jane and James were both sporting Jo Malone scents, and scented candles were scattered throughout the event spaces to create long-lasting olfactory memories.
Dinner, speeches and the cutting of the cake were filled with happiness and laughter – what a great crowd of people to welcome to the hotel! Jane’s family from the States and James’ slightly more local were both clearly so happy to be surrounded by the people that mean the most to them.
Thanks to the fantastic Beat Club the party was focused on The Ballroom for the rest of the evening … everyone was drawn to the dance floor! To accentuate the party atmosphere we served two types of shots, one for ‘Team Bride’ and one for ‘Team Groom’ made up of Tequila and Jagerbombs.
From start to finish the wedding was a roaring success with guests’ faces arriving smiling and leaving in the early hours equally happy after a wonderful occasion shared with our Corinthia couple.
Jane and James, we absolutely loved welcoming you to Corinthia London for your wedding day and can’t wait to see you here again soon to for many more anniversaries to come!
