Fast forward seven years together, an engagement in Santorini and a year of planning, we find ourselves at the wedding of Ellise and Matt.

Soft, romantic and personalised were the themes of this Italian-Essex wedding, all centred around the key Italian element: family. Both highly successful in their careers based in the City, in our after-work meetings brainstorming ideas over mojitos, it was clear from the beginning that Ellise was the driving force behind all creative ideas and Matt the one to review the logistics to make it feasible… what a dream team!

With the big day on a Saturday afternoon, Ellise, her sister Claudette, and their parents checked into Corinthia Hotel London on the Friday evening to settle in and get ready for preparations in the morning. They arrived in a minibus piled so full that I could barely see them on arrival under mountains of bags, dresses, and accessories! All unloaded and taken to their rooms, it was time for the bride to get her beauty sleep.

The following day, up bright and early, Boe Wright of Botias hair and make-up services, was making herself at home setting up in the Bride’s suite ready to work her magic to all. I left them to chatter, sing and get pampered whilst we finalised the wedding spaces.

The Bridal Party

Hired dove grey linen camelot chairs with purple seating pads lined the space, topped off with stunning floral displays from By Appointment Only Design. Their team beavering away all day, the spaces were left with fabulous features of beautiful centrepieces – a mixture of tall and short arrangements, simple single-flower vases for the poseur tables, with the ‘pièce de resistance’ being their seating plan frame. The bespoke frame was covered entirely in pastel roses and green hydrangeas with the custom seating plan peeking through the centre – this was a beautifully decorative piece that did not disappoint!

The Seating Plan

I could not write this article without mentioning a particular moment that as a wedding planner will forever stay with me. Incredibly nervous and with questions to ask, I met the Father-of-the-Bride in his room just down the corridor away from the gaggle of giggling girls getting ready. This turned into a moment of privilege and an intimate insight into the bride’s life when he asked if he could rehearse his speech with me. I couldn’t have been more honoured. His emotion-filled speech was nothing short of beautiful and later that day, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

A picture of perfection, Ellise and her beautiful bridesmaids were ready to go to St Peter’s Italian Church in Islington. Javier, florist from By Appointment Only Design, had ensured all groomsmen were ready by helping with their buttonholes, whilst the classic vintage cars hired for this special day were waiting outside the front of the hotel ready to take our bride across London.

It was there that Ellise walked down the wonderfully long aisle to meet Matt, and in front of their family and friends they became husband and wife.

The Newlyweds

The newlyweds made their way to Corinthia Hotel London in their vintage car followed by classic Routemaster buses bringing up the rear with a jovial crowd ready for the celebrations to commence. The end of September and such stunning weather – sunny, warm and with that perfect end-of-summer lighting for the photographer to take beautiful alfresco shots. Making the most of this weather, the couple used the stunning architecture as their backdrop before heading back inside ready for The Ballroom to be revealed to their guests.

Once the guests had been brought in from The Courtroom and outside, The Ballroom was filled and ready for the new Mr and Mrs Davis to be introduced. At the end of their wedding breakfast, the heartfelt yet comical and inventive speeches took place.

The Bride & Groom

The Father-of-the-Bride provided a flawless slot with the added touch of a gift for all to be handed out, whilst the best men decided both to entertain and torture their groom – in the style of ‘Family Fortunes’ – ‘Matt’s Misfortunes’!

The Groomsen Speech

Under strict instructions not to trip her up, it was time for Matt to invite his beautiful bride to the dance floor for the cutting of the cake and the first dance. Keeping his clean record of never letting his new wife down, Matt and Ellise glided round the dance floor in front of family and friends before allowing the party to begin. Mojitos in hand, dancing and singing… their night was sure to be fun and nothing short of a success with music provided by the Wedding Smashes DJ.

This kind, caring and funny Corinthia couple created their perfect September wedding before jetting off to the Seychelles to enjoy the beginning of married life and the next step in their adventure together. I will always look forward to their trips to Corinthia London to reminisce about their wonderful day.

To Ellise & Matt… Wishing you all the best and nothing less than a lifetime of happiness together…
