Saturday, 11th June was the biggest date of Charlie and Carly’s diary in 2016…With almost a year of planning it was time to get married! The evening before the wedding the couple invited their immediate family and friends to a relaxed dinner on The Northall mezzanine, where they could catch-up with each other a little more intimately before the big day.
On the morning of the wedding, Carly and her entourage had a lovely time getting ready in one of our Whitehall suites before going down to The Courtroom for the marriage ceremony. Meanwhile the finishing touches were being put to The Ballroom with beautiful dark grey table linen, wonderfully grand Chandelle chairs, and a stage, dance floor and bar.
Our beautiful bride Carly, was so excited for her special day and for the whole experience at Corinthia London that we never caught sight of her without a smile on her face. With this in mind, we thought a Q&A with the leading lady would be a great way to see the day from the bride’s perspective.
How did Charlie propose to you?
Charlie proposed on the London Eye which was amazing! It was winter and the Christmas lights were on display throughout London which made it even more magical. As a person Charlie is very shy when it comes to being in a big open crowd, so I was so shocked that he chose to propose somewhere so public, especially as people were watching us and taking photos.
How long have you been together?
We went to school together and were in a similar friendship circle, therefore it all began as friends. It was only when we really started to get to know each other that we fell in love. I was sixteen and he was seventeen, all in all we’ve been together for twelve years which makes us feel very old now!
What made you choose Corinthia Hotel London as your wedding venue?
We always knew we wanted a modern, clean and sophisticated venue and we came to visit Corinthia London we knew straight away this was our number one pick and we instantly agreed this had to be our venue. We love everything about the hotel, from the gorgeous interior to the ever-so-polite doormen.
What were yours and Charlie’s top 3 moments of your wedding day?
We will both always remember this part of the day… there is something so magical and special in that moment when making a commitment and expressing the love you have for one another. I remember walking into the Ceremony room and instantly smelling the gorgeous flowers, hearing the beautiful acoustic singer playing our melody, then seeing Charlie’s face light up when looking at me in my beautiful dress. I will never forget his look as I got closer and gave him a quick kiss before we said our vows. Our dreams came true in that moment.
The Wedding Breakfast:
Whilst our loved ones tucked into their beautifully cooked wedding breakfast, we both sat and looked around The Ballroom and I couldn’t believe that after eleven years together we were finally married. We made sure we took in that moment and held each other’s hands.
The Bride and Groom Photos:
This was a great opportunity in the day for Charlie and I to be together and take everything in. This part happened just after the ceremony so we managed to grab a glass of Champagne and headed for our couples photos…we got to cuddle and kiss each other and talk about how great the day was going. We loved having photos on the Royal Penthouse terrace in front of the London Eye. This moment was beautiful to look over and recall how it all began with Charlie proposing.
What was your favourite part of the planning process?
Charlie and I loved visiting the Corinthia London and selecting our menu. We did our menu tasting a couple of months before the wedding and it was so enjoyable to try all the different dishes. We both love food so this was a key highlight in the run up to the wedding.
When choosing things for your wedding, what would you say were the most important elements to make up your day?
Above all, the most important choice was the venue. We were certain that we wanted somewhere stylish, glamorous with 5 star service…that’s exactly what we got at Corinthia London.
The dress was definitely one of the other most important things. Every bride knows that is the one thing you want to be perfect. My dress was called Precious from the Pronovias 2016 collection… it was so beautiful and felt like a dream when I was wearing it.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went to Los Angeles and stayed in a beautiful house in the Hollywood hills. We took our 20 month-old son Teddy and our parents. Our parents were so great with Teddy which allowed Charlie and I the balance of some alone time whilst also combining great family times spent at Disneyland… all the while the weather was amazing!
Such a happy and beautiful couple! We are only too happy to see Charlie and Carly regularly return to the hotel, and hope their visits continue. We loved welcoming them for their special day and wish both bride, groom (and of course little Teddy) the happiest start to married life.
Charlie and Carly, all of us here at Corinthia loved opening our doors to your family and friends to celebrate your special day in June and we hope to see you again soon!
