On 19th March 2016 Alice and Alex tied the knot at Corinthia Hotel London and what a beautiful wedding it was too!
Meeting on the first day of their Financial Mathematics Masters course this couple are perfect for each other, and their fantastic approach to planning ensured a stress-free occasion. Whether this was down to their careers or not, their clear budgets and ideas meant they were always in control and thoroughly organised.
It was lovely to see how much this couple had faith in Corinthia London and they used all the facilities and options open to them. Alice had her nails done at ESPA Life the day before the wedding, her hair was perfected at Daniel Galvin, and they hosted their rehearsal dinner in The Northall Private Dining Room. It was a pleasure for us to show them the complete Corinthia London experience that all couples can expect here!
Waking up on her big day Alice headed straight to our Daniel Galvin at Corinthia hair salon where the team were ready for her, as was fabulous make-up artist Ana Ospina who had set-up in the main salon in order to minimise the running around of the bridal party. Let the pampering and preening begin!
Downstairs in The Ballroom we were busy with a beautiful set-up which included soft dove grey linen, paired with the wonderfully stylish white Chandelle chairs from Great Hire. Also from Great Hire were the pieces of Classic White Bar which sat in an alcove by the dance floor, all ready for use in the evening.
The real talking points of The Ballroom were the breathtaking flowers from our in-house florists, By Appointment Only Design and the fabulously designed cake from Cakes By Krishanthi. The floral designs were a gorgeous collection of whites, creams, pinks, and purples in varying shades, and the blooms included hydrangeas and roses with minimal foliage. To ensure the desired romantic feel there was an abundance of candles, from collections of twinkling tea lights to tall candle sticks.
Cakes By Krishanthi could not have provided a better creation for this couple – the detail and execution was jaw-dropping! Individually handmade sugar flowers decorated the top and surrounded the tiers. It was clearly a labour of love and so worth it!
Whilst Alice was upstairs applying her finishing touches and Alex was on his way to the hotel, the scene was being set in The Courtroom for the ceremony with lanterns lit and order of services laid out.
With everyone in place the Best Man had the important job of giving an announcement to put all mobile phones away. As discussed before on the With Love From Corinthia blog, having all your guests holding their phones up means that not only do they ruin the professional photography, but they are not entirely in the moment, in this instance Alice and Alex went for an unplugged wedding and it was a great decision. Cameo photography had ensured cameras were set up and multiple photographers were in place so that no moment was missed. With the magic of the internet all photos could be shared later with their guests.
Alice’s beautiful bridesmaids were now all with her downstairs and lined up ready to go, with the bride and her father just behind. There – in a stunning Caroline Castigliano dress – Alice and Alex were married in front of all their family and friends.
After the ceremony the couple took advantage of The Ballroom entrance steps for some superb group photographs before making the most of a fantastic photo shoot in the Royal Penthouse overlooking London. It was a chilly March day but neither seemed to mind when in front of such a stunning skyline!
Back on the ground floor all guests had taken their seats and the couple entered The Ballroom to the applause of their families. Alex and Alice had selected the Chicken Liver Parfait for starters followed by the Rump of Lamb for main, then the Dark Chocolate Parfait for dessert. It proved a lovely leisurely meal, which was followed by a collection of heartfelt yet comical speeches.
Then it was time for the evening celebrations to begin! Just before cutting the cake, Alice slipped off to make a couple of crucial outfit alterations. Who would have known that the lace detail on her beautiful Caroline Castigliano dress was in fact removable? We carefully unhooked this delicate piece and left Alice with a sleek strapless gown which, with some additional sparkle and a slick of red lipstick, was perfect for the transition from daytime to evening.
With The Ballroom adorned with coloured up-lighting Alice and Alex cut their magnificent cake surrounded by their family and friends before they took to the dance floor. Both dazzled with their moves and gave an impressive performance for their guests to applaud before they joined them and the party truly began.
It was lovely to see this happy couple dance the night away knowing that they had enjoyed their perfect wedding day. It can be said that so much of the enjoyment of the planning of Alice and Alex’s wedding was down to their wonderful organisation and logical approaches. They knew their priorities for their wedding and staggered the booking of these items and the payment (which takes the financial stress away somewhat!). It was also clear that they also really trusted their suppliers’ judgement, whether that be By Appointment Only Design for the magnificent floral displays, Cakes By Krishanthi for the stunning cake, or Corinthia London as their chosen venue. When surrounded by handpicked suppliers and sticking to all deadlines given, any wedding is certain to be a success and Alice and Alex’s wedding is the perfect example of this.
