With the arrival of autumn came the flurry of fashion weeks. The world’s greatest designers flocked to New York, London, Milan and finally Paris to bring to us the looks that we will be seeing and wearing for Spring/Summer 2017. Many of these looks translate perfectly into the prettiest, edgiest, smartest and most comfortable outfits to wear to next season’s weddings, and we thought we simply must share them with you!
Languid, Light and Breezy
This season dresses are languid and loose, with structured shapes taking the back row and heavy silks and gentle flares dominating centre stage. We’re quite simply delighted by this. Comfort and beauty strode hand-in-hand down the catwalk at the Paul Smith and Emilia Wickstead shows and we can’t wait to replicate these elegant looks in the golden days of spring and summer… They make the perfect wedding outfits.
Has there ever been a year when flowers haven’t made an appearance on the Spring/Summer catwalk? Probably not, but we’re not complaining! Flowers lend themselves to a summer wedding, bringing a charm to outfits, from delicate girlish innocence to bold womanly passion.
Emilia Wickstead’s beautiful breezy collection featured beautiful ditsy flower patterns, which added to the country-fresh, 1950s feel. You also can’t possibly go wrong with her fabulous Jump Suit – what better way to give your wedding outfit a bit of a twist.
Erdem beautifully mastered the balance between delicate and bold throughout their collection, whilst Lottie Moss arrived at the Dior catwalk show looking every inch a supermodel’s sister, teaming her exquisite flowery dress with an immaculate tailored trench coat – a combination definitely worth copying.
Spring is a special time of year, with cool dewy mornings bringing a particular beauty that makes for a gorgeous wedding day… But it can be chilly! Combat the goosebumps and still look fabulous by wearing a stunning floral coat. These two by Prada and Erdem are our favourites so far:
The Uneven Hem
Add an edge (‘scuse the pun) to your wedding outfit by wearing an uneven hem, be it simply asymmetrical or boldly stepped – perfected by J.W. Anderson this season.
The Statement Earring
We all know that jewellery can be the cherry on the cake to your outfit.
Bring a simple hairdo to life with asymmetric earrings, be they mismatched colours or different lengths, or give a classic outfit a twist with some extra-large, “out there” bling.
Have we inspired you?
