When it comes to creating a memorable day it’s all in the details. From signature drinks to meaningful objects add something different to your wedding with some of these special touches.
Whether it’s a local drink from the place you got engaged, the flavours that bring back memories of your first date or that romantic holiday in sunny climes, why not create a signature cocktail for your guests to sip during the reception. You could even incorporate a dash of your wedding colours with fun straws, edible flowers or coloured sugar rims, and don’t forget to give it a memorable name!
During the ceremony have a loved one read or sing a song that is special to you as a couple. To make your entrance more touching you could even walk up the aisle as a friend or family member sings or plays a musical instrument.
Place framed photos from the weddings of your parents, grandparents or godparents by your guest book or gifts table to create a lovely decorative feature and act as a talking point for family to reminisce over. For a fun place setting you could use photos of you and your guests as our Corinthia couple Lauren and Andrew have done below.
Try and incorporate your family history into your food choices, whether it is your nonna’s signature dish or an apple pie that reminds you of home – what about giving out the recipe as part of your favours – now that’s an idea.
Get creative with your seating plan and name each table after a place you have both visited or with significant dates, or as one of our Corinthia couples did, call each one after the title of musicals they both loved. Leave a place card on each table so your guests can learn more about you as a couple.
The Little Touches
The smallest details can make the biggest difference and cement your wonderful day filled with laughter and joy into the memories of your guests. Choose a cake topper that represents your personalities, give out favours that reflect your hobbies such as personalised bookmarks, golf tees or even packets of seeds to symbolise the beginning of your lives together, or pick a special quote and put it on your ceremony programs or invitations.
Dressed to Impress
To help you feel even closer to your loved ones on your big day sew a piece of lace from your grandmother’s or mother’s wedding dress in to the lining of your dress or use this material to make your ring bearer’s pillow.
For the gentlemen what is a more significant touch than cufflinks with the letters of yourself and your beautiful bride’s first names.
Finally – pick flowers to suit your personality. Think daisies for a fun and happy couple, wildflowers for a boho bride or white flowers for an elegant and sophisticated duo.
We hope this post has inspired you to think creatively and add a few special touches of your own to your big day. We would love for you to share photos of how you made your day your way.
With love from Corinthia London,
