As ladies, we know we love our handbags… why should our wedding days be any exception to this?
Sure, you won’t be needing (or wanting) an oversized tote that can hold more things than Mary Poppins’ famous carpet bag – though these are wonderful for everyday use – but who’s to tell you not to invest in a gorgeous little clutch for those all-important bits and bobs…?
What do you need to keep with you on your wedding day?
In theory, you shouldn’t need to carry anything at all – that’s what your (new) husband and your bridesmaids are for.
However if you feel you have too many bits and pieces, or simply want an excuse to buy gorgeous accessory, a small clutch or shoulder bag can be perfect for the occasion.
We’ve had a little think and have concluded that you may well want to have the following items close at hand:
- Hair grips (always useful to have a couple with you)
- A mint or two (you’ll be hugging and talking to a lot of people)
- And that’s basically it.
- No, you don’t need your phone. You can of course take it if you want, but your wedding day is not about taking your own photos, let the professionals do that… Or even your friends.
These bags are supposed to be beautiful but still not meant for walking down an aisle. Leave them in a safe place for the ceremony and pick them up afterwards.
It might be nice to think about getting some bags for your bridesmaids as well. If you have decided not to have one, they will need something to carry your lipstick and mints, and there are the added items of their own belongings with room keys, a purse, compact mirror… Perhaps they’ll even need something a little larger than a clutch.
Brides and bridesmaids, you have spent so long picking out your dresses, shoes, jewellery and hair dos… make sure to dedicate a little time to bag shopping too. It’s not only an essential, but just downright fun to shop for!
Here are our favourite picks at the moment…
Which one would you go for?
