The days of one-night boozy stag dos are over. Nowadays it is much more common to jet off for a weekend away to one of Europe’s fun-loving capitals to sign-off your single days in style.

Pack your bags and venture overseas as we give you two top destinations for a stag do to remember.

If you are hosting a stag do in summer time, there is no better place to celebrate than Lisbon with its spectacular sunshine, stunning scenery and lively nightlife scene. As Europe’s second-oldest capital, and one of its most intriguing cities, Lisbon is a fusion of vibrant creativity, culture and business. Set on seven hills that stretch along the banks of the River Tagus, Lisbon is blessed with a truly mythical and dramatic location.

Where to Stay

Situated just moments from the beautiful Monsanto Nature Park and with stunning views over the 18th Century Aqueduct, Corinthia Hotel Lisbon is the perfect place from which to explore the city. A short distance from both the Lisbon Portela Airport and the historic city centre, Corinthia Lisbon is the ideal combination of modern elegance and convenience in Europe’s pioneering capital.

Even better Corinthia Lisbon is home to Tempus Lounge – the perfect setting to begin your night.

Where to Eat

For traditional food and casual drinks Bairro Alto has a cool pub-vibe with tables that spill out of the restaurant on to a cobbled courtyard. For a more upmarket experience, Cantinho do Avillez, owned by one of Portugal’s most famous chefs offers an internationally inspired menu served in an industrial chic environment.

What to Do

Lisbon nightlife starts late and most of the bars and clubs, spanning every taste from uber-smart to contemporary chic, do not tend to fill up much before 11 p.m. Nightlife is concentrated on the waterfront between the Docks and Avenida 24 de Julho, the 16th century Bairro Alto area and the promenade along the Tagus river, which hums with activity day and night.

Head to K Urban Beach, a sophisticated nightspot that overlooks the river with an outdoor chill out zone and lively club atmosphere indoors.

There’s plenty to do in the daytime hours too. If relaxing in the state-of-the-art spa at the Corinthia Lisbon the next morning is not your cup of tea, head to the beach and have the sea air blow away your hangover.

For the go-getters out there try your hand at surfing or kayaking, get tickets to see one of Lisbon’s football teams or for the ultimate afternoon rent a private yacht and see Lisbon from the water whilst you cruise along the river.

With its abundance of beautiful parks, luxury shopping, a vibrant contemporary art scene and pulsating nightlife, Budapest is one of the most memorable cities in Central Europe.

Where to Stay

Beautifully restored for a new generation of traveller, Corinthia Hotel Budapest is one of the grandest hotels in the city.  An impressive landmark building with an imposing Neo-classical façade and soaring glass atrium, Corinthia Budapest offers a choice of elegant eateries and destination bars for even the most discerning traveller.

Close to historical and cultural landmarks including the UNESCO world heritage site Andrássy Avenue, the House of Terror museum and many of the city’s world-famous spas, Corinthia Budapest is the perfect destination for both a stag do of exploration and relaxation.

Where to Drink

Start your night off in your hotel at Le Bar and sip on a refreshing beer or cocktail as you relax to the sounds of a talented resident pianist.

Soak up Budapest’s unique underground nightlife in the famous ‘ruin bars,’ formerly dilapidated buildings and courtyards. One of the best known ruin bars is Instant with 23 rooms, 6 bars and 4 dance floors.

In the summer, hop over to Hajogyari Island, the biggest island in Budapest which is known as the nightlife hub of Budapest.

Where to Eat

Make sure you try traditional Hungarian food and wine, and if you like it that much, visit the vineyards or take a cookery course.

Head to the Great Market Hall for counters piled high with meats, cheese and baked treats, as well as more indulgent fare from foie gras to truffles and wine.

What to Do

For the adrenaline junkies, spend an afternoon wakeboarding, tank driving or pistol shooting or see the sights of enchanting Budapest on a relaxing river cruise along the Danube. Spend a day with your groomsmen on a private boat as you glide past the Houses of Parliament, the Royal Castle and the Gellért Hill.

You can’t visit the City of Baths without taking a dip in to one of Budapest’s Thermal Spas. After a night out celebrating, there is no matter place than to take relax and unwind in the natural hot spring waters – the perfect end to a stag weekend.
