Marc Guehi has revealed he will not be keeping hold of his winner's medal if England manage to beat Spain and win Euro 2024 in Sunday's final.

The Three Lions are on the verge of making history with the chance of lifting a first major honour since 1966 when the two European giants meet in Berlin.

England have a chance to deliver on their pre-tournament status as favourites, while Spain's new generation of younger players have reached a first final in over a decade.

Crystal Palace defender Guehi has been a concrete figure at the heart of England's defence during Euro 2024 after becoming a mainstay alongside John Stones.

The 23-year-old was largely expected to be a squad player at the tournament, but has been one of the most frequently-picked players by Gareth Southgate after Harry Maguire failed to recover from injury in time.

He has played every minute of every game with the exception of England's quarter-final win over Denmark that Guehi was suspended for after being booked twice in the opening four matches.

Now with all eyes focused on stopping Spain's forwards from running riot in the final, Guehi has explained how any winner's medal won't be kept by him.

The robust centre-back has instead explained that he will give a winner's medal to his parents, with the Crystal Palace star's father a church pastor.

'I'll give it (the medal) to mum and dad. They'll take care of it,' Guehi said ahead of facing Spain in the tournament finale.

'For me, it's more about the memories you can pass and share. That's the most important thing, to be honest.

'I'm just enjoying the ride. I do get nervous but it's a feeling you just try to use to help you.'

Guehi has starred at his first major tournament with England following a similarly impressive season for Crystal Palace where his efforts helped guide the club to Premier League safety.

His performances at Euro 2024 have likely caught the eye of potential suitors who could attempt to test Palace's resolve following the conclusion of the ongoing tournament.
