HAMILTON ACCIES TRIO SIGN CONTRACT EXTENSIONS AS GOALKEEPER SET FOR BIGGER ROLE AT CLUB

Hamilton Accies have tied down three players on new deals ahead of the forthcoming Championship campaign.

Boss John Rankin has handed one year contract extensions to winger Euan Henderson, midfielder Connor Murray and goalkeeper Dean Lyness, although Lanarkshire Live Sport understands Lyness is set to be handed a bigger role at New Douglas Park.

The shot-stopper is in negotiations with the club about a deal that could see him appointed a goalkeeping coach in the future and the club are looking to offer him a longer term contract.

Lyness has already been working closely with the club's new goalkeeping coach, former Celtic and Motherwell man Gordon Marshall, as he prepares to take on extra responsibilities. The 32-year-old Englishman has had previous spells in Scotland with Airdrie, Raith Rovers and St Mirren.

Henderson and Murray have been rewarded for their contributions to Hamilton's promotion success last season. Former Hearts man Henderson netted 10 goals and provided five assists during 31 appearances for the club in League One last season, while Murray made 20 appearances, scoring three times and providing one assist following last summer's move from Queen of the South.

Accies are back in pre-season training and play their first friendly matches of the summer this Saturday when they host Cumbernauld Colts (12.30pm) and Gala Fairydean Rovers (3.30pm) in a New Douglas Park double-header.
