GUNDOGAN OFFERS UPDATE AFTER SURVIVING HORROR CHALLENGE AT EURO 2024

Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has confirmed he’s escaped injury after being on the receiving end of an awful tackle in Germany’s Euro 2024 opener against Scotland.

Gundogan was crunched in the penalty area by Ryan Porteous in a challenge that resulted in a straight red card for the Scotland man.

The Barcelona star received treatment on the pitch and was able to continue as Germany got their campaign off to a flying start with a 5-1 win.

Gundogan was asked about the incident afterwards and joked he’d been on the receiving end of worse challenges during his career.

“All good. The ligament was not affected. I’ve had worse!” he told the media.

News that Gundogan has escaped injury will be a relief to Barcelona and Germany fans after what was a really poor challenge.

Germany are back in action on Wednesday when they play Hungary next at Euro 2024.
