Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag insisted on attending the contract signing of another of the club's talented youngsters.

Ten Hag, who recently signed a new deal himself, isn't always present when youngsters extend their stay at the club.

However, the Dutchman was in attendance when Kobbie Mainoo signed a new deal in February 2023 and when Alejandro Garnacho penned a new contract in April 2023.

Mainoo was just 17 at the time of signing his contract and hadn't yet fully established himself in the United team, while Garnacho had considerably more experience. Both players have since gone on to make a major impact for United.

Ten Hag now seemingly believes that another prospect is set for a bright future.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag was adamant that he should be present on Thursday as Toby Collyer signed a new contract with United until 2027 with the option to extend by a further year.

The talented midfielder joined United in March 2022 having previously been at Brighton's academy.

Last year England youth international Collyer featured for United's first-team in pre-season and it is anticipated that he will do so again this summer.

Collyer was an unused substitute for United on eight occasions at senior level last season, with a competitive debut surely not far away.

The 20-year-old will be aiming to follow Mainoo and Garnacho by making the step up from the academy to the first-team.

Collyer has played 27 times for United at Under-21 level.
